2. Taj Mahal,Agra
It is easily one of the most beautiful monuments to be ever built by human beings. Among the wonders of the world, it is the ‘jewel of art in India’, the Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It’s often mistaken as a palace, this famous landmark was actually built as a tomb for the Emperor’s wife. It took around 22,000 men and seventeen years to build the Taj Mahal. The Lotus Temple is in New Delhi consisting of 27 structures resembling petals of the lotus flower that open onto a central hall around 40m high. It has nine sides & nine doors. The temple can accommodate 2,500 people. Its surface is made of white marble from Mount Pentelicus in Greece. Since its inaugurated for visitors, it has drawn more than 70 million people from world over.
